I've worked in various jobs in the past although never, I might add, as an Agony Aunt. After graduating from Bristol University in 2003 I worked as a Cocktail Waitress, Receptionist, TV researcher on 'Deal or No Deal', Football Reporter, Bingo presenter, Shopping Television Dolly Bird, Promo girl, Runner, Lacrosse Coach and General Dogsbody to fund the writing of Agony Angel.
Writing a book was an amazing experience. I was totally shell shocked when I wrote the last word. I had always assumed I would be THAT girl - that in years to come people would come up to me at parties, cock their heads to one side and ask in a pitying tone "So how is the book?" Ha! Now people don't come up to me at parties for fear I might try and sell them a copy of it. But potato potaaato!
It was (relatively!) easy to write because I loved the character of Angel so much. Although I must stress to you that she is in no way based on myself. At all. In fact if I worried about things as much as she does I would never get out of bed in the morning. Still, writing about her was fun and exciting. Writing about some of her errant friends was even more entertaining and I have grown extremely fond of each and every person in the book (bar Richard who I still don't like).
Do read it, do let me know what you think of it and do make sure you check back to see if I get to write another one. Ooh I have some good stuff up my sleeve...!!!
Thank you to everyone who helped me with my research... I learnt some pretty violent medical facts and things about snakes that no normal person should ever need to know. Above all thank you to all those who have had such faith in me and, even at my lowest ebb, have managed to make sure I soldier on. I hope you enjoy the book,
